Advanced Sudoku
Welcome to Advanced Sudoku, where singles alone are no longer enough. Every puzzle here needs at least one candidate technique, most often a pointing pair, sometimes a claiming pair or a naked pair or triple, so it's time to start using pencil marks.
Techniques You'll Need
- Pointing Pairs/Triples
When a number is restricted to one line within a box, it can be eliminated from that line in other boxes
- Claiming Pairs/Triples
When a number in a row or column can only appear in cells within one box, that number can be eliminated from other cells in that box
- Naked Pairs
When two cells in a row, column, or box contain exactly the same two candidates, those candidates can be eliminated from the other cells there
- Naked Triples
When three cells in a row, column, or box contain only three candidates between them (some may have fewer), those candidates can be eliminated from the other cells there
